Cost of Living

By John Berger

My question is to Assistant Treasurer Pearson in the other place. We know that our country is facing a cost-of-living crisis. As the Premier said recently, the Reserve Bank of Australia is smashing families after dozens of rate rises in a little over a year, and I know that families are struggling. That is why I am proud to be a member of a government that is getting on with delivering programs to lower the cost of living, whether it be the $250 power saving bonus, the $289 million package to help families with school costs, free TAFE, free motor vehicle registrations for apprentices and tradies, free kinder and much more. That is why I ask the Assistant Treasurer to please update my community on what the government is doing to investigate new cost-of-living measures that will support my constituents in the Southern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne – and particularly in the electorate of Hawthorn, which desperately misses a good, hardworking Labor member.
